NAFA Productions of Papua New Guinea (PNG) announces groundbreaking film production initiative co-produced by Neelam Productions and Silicon Media from India.

NAFA Production is excited to unveil a pioneering cinematic collaboration between Papua New Guinea and India, aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage and exquisite landscapes of Papua New Guinea to a global audience. This film marks the first major co-production project between the two nations.

This landmark co-production aims to celebrate the diversity and resilience of the human spirit through compelling storytelling.

Set against the vibrant and diverse backdrop of Papua New Guinea, the film will be directed by the acclaimed Dr. Bijukumar Damodaran, a three-time recipient of India’s National Film Award whose works have been celebrated at numerous international film festivals. The project is a joint production involving NAFA Production of Papua New Guinea, Neelam Production led by renowned Indian director Pa Ranjith, and Silicon Media helmed by actor Prakash Bare. Cathy Angeline Mereun Sike of NAFA Productions, Pa Ranjith and Prakash will be the producers of the film with the execution managed by Parul Agrawal and Adhya Prasad.

The cast of the film includes celebrated Hindi/Bengali actress Ritabari Chakraborty and renowned South Indian actor Prakash Bare, alongside prominent talents from Papua New Guinea. The score will be composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, further elevating the film’s appeal.

Dr. Bijukumar Damodaran expressed his enthusiasm about the project, noting, “Papua New Guinea is a treasure trove of compelling stories and untapped potential. We are eager to collaborate with local artists and students to bring these unique narratives to the global audience through the art of cinema.”

This venture underscores our commitment to fostering cross-cultural exchanges and celebrating the rich tapestry of human experiences and stories. Through the artistic melding of Indian and Papua New Guinean creativities, we aim to create a film that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.

The project was officially announced by the Honorable Shri. Inbasekar Sundaramurti, High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, with key project members, Parul Agrawal (Executive Producer), Adhya Prasad (Production Controller) and Indian film personnel Davis Manuel (Film Editor) and Dileep Daz (Chief Production Designer) in attendance.

Principal photography of the film is scheduled to commence in mid-July 2024 in Papua New Guinea. Further details about the film will be released in the upcoming weeks. We invite everyone to join us in this exciting cinematic journey as we embark on this remarkable cross-cultural venture.
